Chikkudukaya in English is called broad beans. These broad beans are very good for your health. Lot of people will ignore this food but this is very healthy food. Try this recipe you will ever ignore and the taste will be fabulous. These beans will maintain the sugar levels. This recipe goes well with Chapathi and also rice.

Broad beans and potato/ chikkudukaya aloo curry consume time is:

Ingredients:

  1. 250 gm chikkudukaya/ broad beans 
  2. 4 potatoes, chopped in small cubes
  3. 2 tsp peanuts 
  4. 20 green chilies 
  5. Salt as per taste 
  6. 4 tsp oil
  7. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  8. 1 tsp cumin seeds 
  9. Water as required 
  10. Few curry leaves 
  11. 1 onion, chopped in small size 
  12. 1 tsp ginger garlic paste 
  13. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  14. Few coriander leaves 

Other preparations:

  1. Cut the broad beans and potato in small pieces 
  2. Boil them in pressure cooker for 2 to 3 whistles 
  3. Dry the roast the peanuts, add the peanuts  to the jar and also add green chilies, salt now grind them as a fine paste by adding some water to it 

Preparation of broad beans and potato curry/ chikkudukaya aloo curry with step-by-step instructions and video:

  1. Heat the oil in a pan 
  2. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and fry them until they splutter 
  3. Add onion and curry leaves to it and mix them, cook until onion gets transparent 
  4. Add ginger garlic paste and turmeric powder to it, cook until raw smell goes out of it 
  5. Add peanuts green chilies paste to it and stir everything, cover the lid and cook for a minute, maintain low to medium flame 
  6. Add cooked broad beans and potato(chikkudukaya, aloo) to it and mix everything and cook for 2 minutes, maintain low to medium flame 
  7. Add water to it and for another minute, add coriander leaves and turn off the flame 


  • That's it broad beans and potato curry/ chikkudukaya aloo curry is ready to serve
