Bottle gourd is extremely low in saturated fats and cholesterol and is rich in water and nutrients required to lose fat from the body. Bottle gourd in milk has a nice balanced taste and is easy on the stomach. My mom used to prepare this recipe. It goes well with Chapathi, rice and also roti.

Bottle gourd recipe step-by-step instructions
Ingredients:
300 grams lauki/Bottle gourd
2 tsp of oil
1 tsp of mustard seeds
1 tsp of cumin seeds
2 sprigs curry leaves
1 medium-size onion chopped
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
2 tsp of sesame seeds
15 green chillies
1 tsp of turmeric
1 and 1/2 tsp salt or as per taste
1 tsp of coriander powder
200 ml of milk
Other preparations:
Peel the skin of the bottle gourd and cut it into pieces
Dry roast the sesame seed
Preparation:
Grind the roasted sesame seeds and add green chillies and salt to make a thin paste.
Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed vessel
Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves fry until they splutter.
Add onions fry until they soften, add ginger garlic paste and turmeric powder give a mix and cook for 1 minute or until raw smell goes
Add sesame seeds and green chilli paste to it and mix it and cook until aroma comes out
Add bottle gourd pieces to it and mix well until lauki gets softened, close the lid with water on it because it doesn't stick to the vessel and also cooks fast.
Add coriander powder and mix it well
Add milk to it and mix well.
Add chopped coriander leaves and turn off the flame.
